Awesome Read - More Than He Expected by Andrea Laurence

I give this book 5 stars.
Once again, I started this book by Andrea Laurence and I was unable to put it down till I reached the end. This is a beautiful love story about a millionaire and a nurse. Alexander Stanton is a commitment phobic who goes from one woman to the next, never settling down. Gwen is also a woman who does want to settle down so after their mutual friends wedding eight months ago they have a two week affair and then go their separate ways.
Present day both Alex and Gwen are invited to their friends holiday home with six other people for a weeks holiday to celebrate the 4 th of July and this is the first time they have seen each other since their affair. Alex has never gone back to the same woman after ending a relationship but he is still drawn to Gwen which is a first for him so when he arrives at his friends home he seeks her out and asks her for another fling - only to find her pregnant!.
Gwen knows that Alex is going to be at the house with them all but thinks she will be safe from him, due to being pregnant and she has decided on a NO MAN rule while she is pregnant. However, Alex is very persuasive and this story is about beating the odds and finding true love and not being afraid to grab it.
I would definitely recommend this as one of my 'Must Reads', if you are after a lovely feel good romance.

Back In Her Husband's Bed by Andrea Laurence

I give this book 5 stars

Back In Her Husband's Bed is a book I started and I have not been able to put down till The End, and even then I did not want it to end.
This is a thoroughly enjoyable romance book about a Casino, it's owner and a card shark. Three years ago, Nate (Casino owner) and Annie (card shark) have a whirlwind affair and end up marrying. Nate is grounded but Annie is like a gypsy and can not seem to settle in one place, so one night Annie is frightened by her feelings for her husband and leaves him in the middle of the night,by just leaving him a note.
Present day Nate needs Annie's help in uncovering a cheating ring that is going to spoil the poker tournament that Nate is trying to lure to his casino. His deal with her is a divorce that he has denied her for the last three years.
This story has it all mystery, lies, love and sexy heroes. There are twist and turns so that you are left guessing till the end for who is the ring leader in the plot.
This is a definite 'MUST READ' and I would love some of the other characters to get a book wrote about them too. Congratulations Andrea Laurence.

He's So Fine by Jill Shalvis

He's So Fine
I give this book 5 stars

He's So Fine, the 11th book in the Lucky Harbor series, was well worth the wait. I was given this book as an ARC, for a honest review and I loved every second of it. Jill Shalvis you have an amazing talent at telling stories, you are one of my pre-order 1-clicks.

This book is about Cole and Olivia, two Lucky Harbor residents. Cole is a partner in a boat charter business with two of his friends - Sam and Tanner after leaving the rigs after the death of one of their best friends Gill. Cole is now rigid in his beliefs and does not like lies of any kind, due to certain events that happened in his past and now he suffers with trust issues. Cole suffers from flashbacks from the accident that claimed his friends life with an igniting flame and this is how he ends up falling in the ocean and Olivia coming to his rescue!! by landing on his head while trying to save him.

Olivia has not been a Lucky Harbor resident long but loves the friendly little seaside town and all the people there. Olivia is trying to escape her past as she was a child Hollywood star till she hit puberty and could not play her part any more in a hit show so that is when her life fell apart, when the people she grew up with left her and she became known as a wild child, so when she came to Luck Harbor she came with a new identity that she could start a fresh from the scandal.

This story tells their budding romance, the ups and downs and I would recommend it as a 'Must Read'.

But while traveling to Scotland for a relative’s funeral, Paisley fears that she really has lost her mind. Out in the highlands, she hears distinctly human thoughts coming from a wild bear. Terrified and desperate, she returns to the lodge and collapses in the powerful arms of its owner, a mysterious man with whom she shares a simmering attraction.Creighton Matheson and his fellow shape-shifters have been roaming this land freely for centuries. Now Paisley may inherit his home, putting his kind in grave danger. His mistrust only deepens when he realizes she can read his mind. Yet he cannot deny that this tantalizing woman makes him burn with desire—and hunger for the prospect of a tender love. Now Creighton must decide which would hurt more: revealing the truth or losing Paisley forever.

I Love this quote from A CURSE AWAKENED by Cecy Robson! Can't wait to read the novella..and then the whole Weird Girls series!
A Curse Awakened by Cecy Robson
Discover Cecy Robson’s sensational Weird Girls series—or return to where the magic first began—with this eBook original prequel novella about four sisters coming to grips with their unique supernatural powers.
Celia Wird shouldn’t possess the ability to transform into a tigress. Her three sisters should never be able to burst into flames, heal wounds, or transform common objects into deadly weapons. And yet they do.
Before they were born, the Wird Sisters were cursed by a spell that was intended to destroy them, not endow them with extraordinary powers. The sisters’ magic is untamed and explosive at best, and time is running out for them to take command.
Vampires have targeted Celia’s sweet, tragically human ex-boyfriend Danny. The sisters rush to his aid, but in order to take down the vamps, first they must face their dark past and break a spell that’s screwing up their powers. Except this curse wasn’t meant to be broken . . . and the witch who cast it isn’t done toying with them yet.
Thanks!

A Very Exclusive Engagement by Andrea Laurence

I give this book 5 stars
I really enjoyed this book by Andrea Laurence as I am a terrible romantic at heart and I love 'Happy Ever Afters' and this lady always produces them for us.  This is book is about Liam Crowe, an alpha male who has just bought into the ANS network after the old owner was arrested for phone hacking and one of his employee's Francesca Orr, a beautiful Italian/Irish woman. They clash at their first business encounter when he tries to stop one of her charity events that she is organising, due to the company being financially short because of the scandal that has previously happened,  she becomes fiery then calls him some rude names in Italian and then their battle/sparring begins.
After leaving the meeting Francesca just wants to return to her hotel room to regroup, when she enters the elevator she sees Liam heading her way and tries to shut the doors on him. However Liam puts out his arm to stop this and they end up in the elevator going down to the lobby when there is a power outage.  This is when the chemistry between them starts to sizzle. Throw in an elderly aunt and an ultimatum to be married within a year or she will sell her shares in Liams company to his rival  and he will lose his majority. Deception, lies, truths and love are shared in this beautiful love story.
I recommend this as a 'Must Read' for all you feel good romantics out there.

Hot Secrets by Lisa Renee Jones

I give this book 5 stars

This is story is about a senators daughter (Lauren), who is a assistant district attorney and a former FBI agent Royce Walker that has opened his own security firm with his brothers.
Royce has been asked by Lauren father to 'watch out for her' because he has been getting threats.  Lauren has also been getting disturbing phone calls that she has told no one about, so at Lauren's father's birthday party Royce gets introduced to Lauren by her friend Julie and there is instant chemistry between these two characters. They end up leaving together and that is when the bad things start to happen.

Royce knows that he can not tell Lauren about his agreement with her father and feels guilty about this because he knows that it may blow up in his face and he may end up losing her trust.  Lauren has been left scarred and with trust issues after finding her ex fiancé in bed with another woman so when she finds herself extremely attracted to Royce, she is unsure what to do, but leave it to the alpha male to show her the way.

This book kept me entertained to find out who was behind the plot right to the end when you found out 'who did it'!!!.

This is a definite 'Must Read' if you like white hot chemistry, intrigue and a woman finding herself.  Congratulations Lisa on a great read.

Excerpt
He scooted her off his lap and settled down on the floor in front of her, his hands sliding up Lauren’s calves, to her knees that she’d primly pressed together. The heady scent of her perfume, her home, her very feminine presence, seeped into his senses.
She stared down at him, a soft ‘doe in headlights’ look on her face. “Royce?” His name was a soft plea on her lips, filled with uncertainty. He’d confused her, sent her mixed messages, in his effort to do what was right.
He felt like a wolf, a hungry wolf who wanted to devour this woman, and there was no way that didn’t show in his eyes, no way the energy, the need he felt for her, didn’t radiate off of him.
“You’re beautiful,” he said, softly, calmly, when the rage of hormones inside him was anything but. He kissed her knees, one and then the other, reaffirming his decision to let her pleasure be his tonight.
“And I’m going to show you how much I mean that.” She swallowed hard, her delicate, kissable throat bobbing with the action. “I’m not sure I know what that means.”
He brushed her dress up her thighs. “You will,” he promised and kissed her delicate little knee again. She laughed – a nervously feminine sound. “I’m not sure I know what that means either.”
“You don’t need to know what it means,” he said, his fingers tracing the lace of her thigh high pantyhose, the sexy lingerie choice confirming what he’d always suspected. Lauren might be prim and proper on the outside, but there was a sensual woman beneath the exterior who wanted to come out and play – and he wanted to be the man who she played with. He wanted to be that man tonight, but no matter how tempting that might be, tonight wasn’t the night. But he’d be damned if he’d allow her to doubt his desire for her, his absolute, complete attraction to her. “You just need to know how it feels.” His hands slipped inside her thighs, easing her legs apart, his lips trailing a path up one of them.

The Book of Life by Deborah Harkness

I give this book 4 stars

I have been given this book by Netgalley to read and leave an honest review. I have been at a disadvantage however because I have not read Discovery of Witches or Shadow of Night which are the first two books in the trilogy, so I had no knowledge of these characters. Having said that I found this book to be enthralling as I love stories of Vampires, Witches and Daemons. Diana (WITCH) and Matthew (VAMPIRE) are in a race against time to find the Book Of Life ( or the missing pages of Ashmole 782 - an enchanted alchemical manuscript) in order to save themselves and everyone they love. This book is about family, love, secrets, spells and battles, its an action packed adventure full of suspense.
I am now going to buy The Discovery Of Witches as I enjoyed this book so much that I want to start at the beginning.
About this author
My life has been a series of left turns that nevertheless took me in the right direction (though it didn't always seem so at the time). I went to college to be a theater major and ended up studying the Renaissance. I went to grad school to become a college administrator and loved to teach so much I became a college professor instead. I thought I wanted to be a Tudor-Stuart historian, and found myself a historian of science. I started blogging because a friend needed help on a project in 2006 and am still blogging about wine today. I started writing a novel in the fall of 2008, and it became a New York Times Bestseller in February 2011: A DISCOVERY OF WITCHES. The second volume in the All Souls Trilogy, SHADOW OF NIGHT, came out in July 2012 and debuted at #1 on the NEW YORK TIMES Bestseller's List. What's next? The final volume of the trilogy, of course: THE BOOK OF LIFE, coming July 15 2014 to the US, UK, Canada, and Republic of Ireland.

A Place For Us by Harriet Evans

I give this book 4 stars.
This is a story is the first part in a series so that means you are left at the end of this book with a cliffhanger and lots of unanswered questions, so if you don't like to wait for answers, then I would wait till they are all released to start to read this. I say this because I have really enjoyed getting to know the individual characters of the book, you are told about them in segments and it helps you to visualise the story. This book starts with Martha and David Winters, who are now nearing their eighties and their family and secrets that they are all keeping. They invite their family home to reveal a major secret and this is the build up to that event.
This is a great start to what I feel will be a good series of books.

Author Bio
I was born in London in 1974 and grew up on the mean streets of Chiswick, where I went to school. I was a completely undistinguished pupil in every way, except I absolutely loved reading and drama. My only achievements from the age of 5 to 18 were, a) winning a doodling competition at primary school (of a witch flying in the sky with balloons in her hand), b) I was head chorister of the church choir, which believe me is not something that wins you cool points with anyone you know apart from your granny.
After school I went to Bristol University and did Classical Studies, which was great, I absolutely loved Bristol and I liked being a student and being with people who didn’t know my shameful head chorister past. I left university and adventurously headed straight back down the motorway to London again.

I wanted to get into magazines, but the only place that would employ me was the Lady magazine, which turned out to be one of those awful first jobs where you think your working life will always be like this: I was wholly unequipped for office life, its politics, its mundanity, its tensions. I did, however, learn how one polishes chandeliers and a lot about interesting road signs in Devon.
A couple of months later I was lucky enough to get into publishing, first at Penguin, where I worked for seven years, progressing from secretary to editorial director, publishing mainly women’s fiction. I left in 2003 and went to another publisher, Headline, where I worked until May 2009.
In the meantime, I started writing in the mornings before work, and in 2003 I sent the first few pages of my book to an agent under a pseudonym. Eventually, to my great joy, this led to a publishing deal with HarperCollins in the UK and Simon and Schuster in the US, who have now published all five of my novels. FIVE books, that’s crazy!
In 2008 I left my job to write full time. I was extremely happy at Headline, working with authors such as Penny Vincenzi, Emily Barr, and Louise Bagshawe, and coming up with initiatives like rejacketing Jane Austen’s novels to appeal to a younger female audience. But it became harder to balance the two jobs, and writing won out, and I know I’m very fortunate to be in a position to write full time, though I missed the office something chronic the first year after I left. It’s awful going to work on a rainy Monday morning, but there’s something great about walking down the road with your iPod in and your coffee in your hand ready to attach another day. When you’re inside all day wearing loose clothing and glasses you don’t feel quite the same…!
I am passionate about commercial fiction, especially commercial women’s fiction, which seems to me to come in for an extraordinary amount of bile and patronising comment, in contrast to the same kind of books by men, which get reviewed, discussed, accepted into the canon with far greater ease. Books about young women’s lives, their jobs, romances, nights out, what they like doing, are seen as frippery and silly; books about young men’s lives covering exactly the same topics are discussed and debated, often accepted as valid and interesting contributions to the current social and media scene.
Last year my boyfriend and I bought a place together in Angel. I am getting used to living in North / East London - it’s strange being able to walk to Brick Lane when I’ve always been no more than 5 minutes from the M4 but I love it round here. I have my own study which is great - previously I was writing in bed or on the sofa, which is not conducive to knuckling down. It is conducive to having a quick nap though… I miss it.
