Review: Barefoot at Moonrise

Barefoot at Moonrise

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I know I have said this before but I LOVE THE BAREFOOT BAY STORIES, this is book 2 in the Timeless series and it is about Ken Cavanaugh and Beth Endicott. These books are about the maturer adult, looking for second chances. Ken is now a firefighter and is the Captain at his station, Beth is a house renovator, they recently met up again at a school reunion - where they were both on the committee for arranging the reunion.

Beth and Ken used to be high school sweethearts, Ken was the guy from the other side of the tracks while Beth was high society but they both fell in love until one fateful day when things changed. Years later at the reunion Ken is trying to apologise for what he did to Beth and they find that the chemistry is still red hot between them and well things happen and Ken gets his chance to woo her once again. Ken is definitely a guy that Beth can rely on, he is sensitive, loving, and he won't let her down and insists on helping her with her renovations when her contractor lets her down. However Beth is finding it hard to let go of her independence until she decides it great to sit and watch.

Due to the history between these two characters, this story is a very entertaining read. This story contains strong willed people, it's about second chances, forgiveness, understanding, putting the past behind them and learning to love once again and a few surprises along the way.

Once again Roxanne has kept me entertained so that I did not want to put the book down. I can not wait for the next silver fox book. A definite MUST READ.

BLOG TOUR AND REVIEW - Sunset in Central Park by Sarah Morgan

5 STARS

This series is about three friends - Paige, Frankie & Eva who have just opened their own business Urban Genie - they will try to do anything that is asked of them from cake making, weddings, corporate events and flower arranging to name just a few.  The first book was about Paige and Jake and is called Sleepless in Manhattan and it introduces you to the characters in this fabulous series.

MY REVIEW
Sunset in Central Park ( From Manhattan with Love Book 2)

If you have read the first book in this series then you have already been introduced to Frankie and Matt. These two characters have chemistry that both of them try to ignore because they have been friends for years and neither want to risk losing this until the chemistry combusts and Matt has to try and convince Frankie that they have a chance.

Frankie does not think she is relationship material has she as not had a good role models while growing up because her mother has had a string of failed relationships after her dad left them after having affairs, so Frankie is disheartened to love and feels it never works. Frankie is the garden and flower expert in Urban Genie

Matt is Paige's brother and has his own business - design and landscaping and has had feelings for Frankie for years but knows that he would have to wait for the right timing to bring up how he feels because of Frankie's past.  The timing arrives when Matt needs Frankie's help with a project he is doing and along with his sisters help, persuades Frankie to help him as she loves to work on roof gardens and she feels comfortable being with Matt while working. However she does not know how to react when he starts to flirt with her and she realises that Matt may have feelings for her too.

I loved this story of how Matt works his way around all Frankie's issues. We even get back to Puffin Island, I don't want to add spoilers so I am not going to say anymore but Sarah Morgan - you know how to write a page turner, I can not wait for Eva's book and I hope some of the other new characters we are learning to love in this series get their happy ending too.

This is what I call a MUST READ if you are a romantic and I give it a well earned 5 stars.

MY REVIEW
If you like a strong woman who decides to throw precaution to the wind and look after herself with out a man then you would enjoy this book.
Jane Danes comes from a middle class family and has been friends with Matthew Cleaves since they where young. Jane is hopelessly in love with him, but Matthew - the local squire has a duty to his family and position to marry correctly and does so leaving Jane heartbroken.

Review: Bidding on the Billionaire and RELEASE BLITZ

BIDDING ON THE BILLIONAIRE
Seattle Bachelors #1
JM Stewart
Releasing March 1st, 2016
Forever: Forever Yours

Safety. Anonymity. Invisibility.

Those are just a few advantages of Internet “dating.” Even better, as far as Hannah Miller is concerned, is the fact that she can shed all inhibitions without worrying about what he thinks of her figure or her face. “He” is bikerboy357, the man who knows what Hannah likes, and wants her—every night—as much as she wants him. When he asks to meet, Hannah hesitates. But the temptation is too strong. And after one look into his sultry green eyes, there’s no turning back.

Cade MacKenzie’s never met a woman who’s wasn’t blinded by his billion-dollar net worth, but “H” knows neither his face nor his name. Her words are so smart, sweet, and scorchingly sexy that Cade’s willing to gamble she’ll be just as amazing in person. And she is. But even as every delicious encounter makes Cade want Hannah more, what he wants most is her trust.

It’s something all his money can’t buy. And now, Cade will do anything to earn it.

J.M Stewart is a coffee and chocolate addict who lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband, two sons and two very spoiled dogs.  She’s a hopeless romantic who believes everybody should have their happily ever after and has been devouring romance novels for as long as she can remember.  Writing that has become her obsession.

Bidding on the Billionaire

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received and ARC of this book for an honest review.

Hannah Miller has been used and called due to her appearance by men in the past so she has major trust issues where men are concerned, when she starts to 'chat' to bikerboy357 about a book they have both read and they start to have real discussions on books, life and their wants she finds that this way of dating does not hurt and she can be who she really is and lose all her inhibitions as they have not swapped real names and they go by their chat room names.

Cade MacKenzie is a Billionaire and has been taken advantage of in the past so he is gun shy with women as they generally only want him for his money or position, however he feels comfortable chatting to H, she does not know him so he knows their discussions are real. After months of chatting every day Cade asks Hannah can he call her.

When Cade asks Hannah can he call her, she does not know what to do as she wants to hear his voice but she is frightened so Cade puts the ball in her court and gives her is number.

Well the saying is- one thing leads to another and the online dating leads to meeting in person. One little hitch though Hannah had told Cade she is Blonde with long legs as she perceives this to be what men want and she is not.

This story is about trust, friendship, healing, romance, love and finding the one. It is also a HOT one. I loved the way this story pans out and how the secondary characters are involved, I am now waiting with baited breath for the next installment. WOW Joanne Stewart what an amazing book.

Review: Willing to Learn

Willing to Learn

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Loved it, great characters and story line and EmKay Connor has a flair for drawing you in to her book and keeping you there.

This story is about Meredith who is betrothed to a Prince - where her Prince is from they have a tradition that the fiancee has to go and be instructed on how to make love in order to keep him satisfied so Meredith finds herself on Tresorier Du Coeur - an island paradise.

Anders Collier is there undercover and hates impersonating a gigolo so he is insubordinate and infuriating and tries not to get picked, however Meredith has plans of her own and chooses him.

Madame Duval is the owner of the seduction retreat and knows when people are meant to be together as she has visions but things are happening that she can not figure out and keeps disappearing so this leads her to be is under suspicion by Anders.

The story progresses with the lead characters getting to know each other and both of them fighting their feelings for one another. This story is full of intrigue, kidnappings, friendship, and of course love. I really enjoyed this book and can not wait for the next installment in the Tresorier du Coeur books as I want to learn more about Madame Duval too. Congrats Ms Connor for keeping me entertained and I look forward to reading more from you.

REVIEW Barefoot With A Bad Boy by Roxanne St Claire

Barefoot with a Bad Boy (Barefoot Bay Undercover, #3)

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I received and ARC of this book for an honest review.

Phenomenal suspenseful romance story telling by the wonderful Roxanne St Claire and a MOST DEFINITE well deserved 5 stars for this book. I have also read all the Barefoot Bay books so I could not wait for Gabe's story to come into words.

Well what a story Gabe Rossi has - this book answers all the questions on why Gabe an ex CIA agent is the way he is and what happened to the people he thinks he has lost in his life.

Gabe thinks the woman he loved and his son that he never knew are dead and he is in grief only to have Lila Wickham turn up in Barefoot Bay smelling like Isadora Winter and telling him she IS the woman he loves but can he believe it or is it a cruel trick the CIA are playing on him.

Lila Wickham is in danger and turns to the only man she can trust with her son's life Gabe Rossi but in order for him to help her she has to convince him that she is Isadora his lost love but because of plastic surgery she looks totally different, she acts different and she knows Gabe's instinct are to trust no one so she has an uphill battle on her hands. Throw in undercover spies out to silence them by killing them and you have one awesome suspenseful story.

I loved every page turn of this book, there are twists in the plot that keep you on edge and now I feel bereft that I have finished this wonderful book. Well Done Roxanne on an exceptionally well written novel - you gave Gabe the book he most definitely deserved.

I don’t know about you, but when I check out an author's bio, it’s usually because I’ve read a book I liked and wondered about the person behind it. Let's skip the formal bio and I'll give you the inside scoop on who Roxanne St. Claire really is.
First of all, call me Rocki. Everyone does. Evidently, when my mother brought me home from the hospital I seemed too scrawny and small to pull off “Roxanne” (she’d read Cyrano de Bergerac while pregnant or I would have been Judy) so they called me Rocki.
I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, the youngest of five (overachievers, every one), and fell in love with words and stories the summer I read Gone With The Wind. That year, for my twelfth birthday, my parents gave me a typewriter (with italic font – it was the coolest thing) and from that day on, I’ve had my fingers on a keyboard, pounding out love stories for fun. My AP English teacher taught me the two most important lessons an aspiring author ever needs: 1) verbs are the key to life and 2) a writer should get a real job. After attending UCLA and graduating with a degree in communications, I tried acting and television broadcasting. Oh, they aren’t real jobs? I learned that the hard way. I changed my last name from Zink to St. Claire because a news producer told me Roxanne Zink had too many harsh consonants for a TV personality – apparently Katie Couric didn’t get the memo. I got some fun gigs, and even met Tom Hanks when I did a guest appearance on Bosom Buddies. I liked on camera work, but wasn’t too crazy about starvation, so I moved to Boston and got that “real” job. In fact, I placed my foot on the bottom rung of the corporate ladder and didn’t look down until I’d climbed all the way up to the level of Senior Vice President at the world’s largest public relations firm. On the way up, I met the man of my dreams in an elevator. Two years later – in the same elevator! – he asked me to marry him and I wisely said yes.
I stayed in PR, moved to Miami, had a few babies, lost my home in a hurricane, built another one a few hours north and all along, I kept writing my “stories” for fun. One night, I read a particularly fabulous romance novel that changed my life for good. That night, I decided I wanted to make someone else feel as whole and happy as that author made me feel. (Everyone asks! It was Nobody’s Baby But Mine by Susan Elizabeth Phillips.) With two small children and one big “real” job, writing my first novel wasn’t easy, but I did finish a manuscript that managed to get the attention of a literary agent. She told me to do one thing and one thing fast: write another book. (The first one is usually a “learner” book, honestly.) That second manuscript sold to Simon & Schuster’s Pocket Books and was released in 2003 as Tropical Getaway. Since then, I’ve written almost thirty more, in multiple genres, and long ago replaced the corporate ladder with the rollercoaster of publishing as a full-time novelist. Finally, writing is my real job.
Today, I live in a small beach community in Florida with my husband and our two teenagers, and one spectacular Australian Terrier named Pepper. When I have spare time, I spend it with my family, but also dig in the dirt with my plants, travel for business and fun, hang out with my many writer friends, and, of course, I love to read. I’m still crazy about words and stories and hope to write at least a hundred books in my lifetime. And, yes, verbs are the key to life. My favorites? Love. Work. Play.
xoxo
Rocki

Review: The Unforgettable Hero: A Playful Brides Story

The Unforgettable Hero: A Playful Brides Story

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review. I give it 5 stars.

Cecelia Harcourt lives in fear of an arranged marriage to her cousin Percy so she writes a romance novel in order to get money so that she and her sister have the means to live on their own and not be at the mercy of her Aunt and Uncle. On the day she takes her novel to the publisher an accident happens and she loses her memory.

Adam Hunt is walking and witnesses the accident so rushes to Cecelia's aid, he takes her to his brothers house, sends a servant for the doctor and then goes back to pick up her papers. When Cecelia awakes she thinks she is the heroine in her book and that Adam is her Fiance.

This story is heart warming, emotional, brings out friendships and love. I loved how Adam looks after Cece and does not let on about anything as he does not want her to be frightened. A thoroughly enjoyable read and I can not wait for the next in the series.

Review: A White Wedding Christmas

A White Wedding Christmas

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received and ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I have loved all the Brides and Belles books so far and was looking forward to Natalie's story and it did not disappoint.

Natalie Sharpe loves to help arrange weddings, as she is a co owner of From This Moment wedding facility but she does not believe in love. All her friends have recently found their H.E.A.'s and she is surrounded by friends in love. Natalie also Hates Christmas and tries to go away at this time of year to escape it all- except this year her childhood friend Lily is getting married and wants it at her facility so Natalie asks her partners do they mind doing this wedding as a favour to her and they say yes. This is where the fun begins.

Natalie always had a crush on Lily's brother Colin when they were younger so she is dreading seeing him again at the wedding but on the day of the meeting with Lily to arrange some of the details about her wedding she is anxiously waiting to see her friend when in walks Colin and no Lily and she is instantly blown away by the attraction she still feels towards him. He then explains that he is the one arranging Lily's wedding and Natalie realizes that she will have to deal with him a lot over the following weeks.

Colin is out of his depth trying to arrange his sisters wedding, she would just like to go off and do it quietly but he wants her to have a special wedding day- so Lily tells him - YOU HAVE TO ARRANGE IT. This throws him and the lovely Natalie together. Colin is attracted to Natalie but he is not sure how she will react to him after an incident that happened in the past, he just hopes she will forgive him.

Natalie and Colin fight their attraction and decide that they will be friends only, Colin does not understand why Natalie does not like Christmas and makes a bet with her that he can get her Christmas spirit back. This is when their friendship develops into more as Colin gives it is all to win the bet.

This is a beautiful and heart wrenching story about family, divorce, friendships, trust, and of course love. The whole story flows from one part to the next and the ending is absolutely perfect. I give it a definite 5 stars and just wish there was more in this series but even though there is not I know that Andrea will have another great series coming for us soon and I can not wait. Congrats.

on the rocks

def34-synopsis

In high school, Carter Ridley loved to sneak off with his good friend Ginger to watch the sun rise over the ocean. But after graduation, his path took a different route. One that, unlike Ginger’s, did get him the spouse and house of his dreams. At least, until a scandal shattered everything.
Running from his heartbreak, Carter returns to Turtle Island, where he discovers that Ginger is all grown up. His teenage friend has become the woman he’s always wanted. But will Carter’s pain scare him away from a chance at happiness? Or can he be the loving partner Ginger’s been looking for?

I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley for an honest review.

If you like a book that contains great characters, its heartfelt, childhood friendships, low self esteem & trust issues, its romantic and has plenty of humour - then this is definitely a book for you.
This story revolves around Ginger - she returned home after the death of her father to run his boat business and she loves it. The only downside for her is that she can never seem to find love and she feels inadequate as a woman.

And Carter - he is called back to his childhood home to check on his younger sister who is pregnant and alone and his parents are away travelling and are worried about her and about Carter too. Carter however, is not in a good place and he is very angry with the world after his failed marriage/divorce and does not need to be babysitting his sister and can not wait to leave the island.

So here we have a woman (Ginger) who wants to find love, a woman (Julie) and her brother (Carter) who both want to be alone to get on with their lonely lives and what a story this gives us.

A little background - Ginger and Carter used to be childhood friends, lived next door to each other, they used to tell each other secrets, were always their for one another in times of need and both loved to watch the sunrise. Then time happens and college beckons and childhood friendships are lost and an unknown crush was never found out.

So swing back to now and one evening Ginger returns home to see an unknown car in next doors driveway and the blinds are closed, she gets an uneasy feeling and goes to investigate with her can of mace to see if Julie is ok. Ginger knocks and gets no answer, she then thumps but when the door is opened it wasn't Julie that opened it but Carter her childhood crush.

Both Ginger and Carter have never forgotten about their friendship and it was great to see them learn to trust one another again and with this the story evolves and we find out about the characters pasts and what has molded them into the people they are today and we see how friendships can be re- found and treasured once again. I loved how this story flowed from one part to the next, answering the questions that you have not even asked.

This is a well written Love story and I would definitely recommend it as 'A MUST READ'.
“I received a free, advance copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my unbiased review.”
